Optometry and Optical

When someone is looking to improve their vision, or receive a routine eye exam, optometrists are the first line of defense in eye care.

An optometrist is a Doctor of Optometry (OD) who has been trained to treat and manage eye diseases, prescribe glasses and contact lenses, and remove foreign bodies from the eye. Most of their education focuses on the best ways to improve one’s vision through glasses or contact lenses, as well as being able to recognize eye diseases and refer to the proper specialist when appropriate.  Medical Optometrists may be trained to treat or manage certain eye conditions such as dry eyes.

Optical refers to the process of helping a patient select, as well as adjust, the appropriate pair of glasses or contact lenses for their prescription.  At Acuity Eye Group, we offer a wide range of quality eyeglasses and sunglasses so ensure you can find the right pair of glasses for you, right after following up with one of our premiere-class optometrists. Our selection ranges from a number of both budget and designer brands, including Ray Ban, Oakley, Michael Kors, Bebe, Steve Madden, and Dolce & Gabbana.

In treating eye disease and monitoring progress, it’s important that a patient’s optometrist work closely with other eye care professionals who manage a patient’s disease, such as ophthalmologists. Acuity Eye Group’s integrated services offering allows this process to be as seamless and efficient as possible.
